In the dystopian world of Deponia, society is divided, the planet has degenerated into a vast garbage dump where the perpetually dissatisfied Rufus ekes out a miserable existence, stuck in the lowest social strata amidst literal mountains of trash. He dreams of escaping to the Elysium--the floating cities inhabited by the elite. Fate intervenes when Goal, a beautiful woman from the upper echelons takes an unexpected plunge into his waste-strewn world. Rufus, in his twisted way, decides to "help" Goal return to her husband. But when he realizes Goal's husband is his look-alike, he concocts a comical scheme to infiltrate the upper world. However, his plans are complicated by the burgeoning feelings he develops for Goal, which put a damper on his usual lack of scruples.
