I guess it just comes down to what you are looking for in a rhythm game. Are you looking for a game where you play an instrument along with music (the instrument being the sabers), or are you looking for a game that makes you dance to the music.

As for custom songs, the selections for Beat Saber are somehow still better than Synth Riders.
