What it is:

The Reactor Catalyst Canister is a miscellaneous item in Fallout 76 tied to a Vault 94 mission called Dead in the Water. In that quest, players had to collect two of these canisters in Vault 94 to replace empty canisters at the reactor in the engineering wing a key step toward restarting the reactor.

Why It’s Considered So Rare

Legacy status: It’s no longer obtainable in the live game, meaning only players who got it before removal still have it. 

Very limited number in existence: According to community collectors, the Reactor Catalyst Canister is often cited as the rarest misc item in Fallout with extremely limited known copies among players as they have never been duped. As well as very few being able to keep them in their inventory and preserve it until today with it being removed from their inventory as they are put in the reactor or the quest finishing like normal quests usually do.
