The film's title refers to the popular myth of the 'dead man's clause', an arcane rule on college campuses which awards straight As to any student whose roomate commits suicide. Here, a pair of flunking freshmen realize that this loophole may be their only hope of passing. Forced to take desperate measures, the duo set out to find the most suicidal guy on campus, move him in, and push him over the edge before the start of final exams.
