Scorn is an award-winningly animated horror adventure set in a nightmarish universe.
It is designed around the idea of being “thrown into the world.” Isolated and lost in this dreamlike world, you explore several interconnected regions in a non-linear way. The disturbing environment is a character in itself.
Each location contains its own theme (story), puzzles and characters that are an integral part of creating a cohesive world. During the game you will open new areas, acquire various skills, weapons and items and try to understand the sights that are offered to you.
Coherent ‘lived-in’ world
Scorn takes place in an open-ended world with several interconnected regions. Each region is a maze-like structure with different rooms and paths to discover. The whole story takes place in the game, with no interscenes that distract you from the horrific realities of the living, breathing world you find yourself in. But keep your eyes open - the game shows you no sympathy if you miss something important during your awkward travel. Everything has a reason and a purpose – you just have to figure out what it is.
Full awareness of the body
Players experience a better experience when they are aware of the body and the movements of the character. The interaction with the world is realistic: objects are picked up with your hands (rather than simply floating in the air), machines and instruments are operated by grasping the controls, etc.
Inventory and ammunition management
Your equipment is determined and limited. This plays a major role in keeping the player in an even greater state of consciousness throughout the game. Players will have to think about when to fight and when to seek cover and how their actions affect the world around them.
