Siberian Education (2013) is an Italian crime drama directed by Gabriele Salvatores, based on Nicolai Lilin's autobiographical novel, about two boys growing up in a criminal community in Transnistria, a region in the former Soviet Union. Starring John Malkovich as the grandfather figure, the film follows the friendship of Kolyma and Gagarin as they are raised by a strict code of honor, which eventually pits them against each other.
